    A video of a man and woman performing a dangerous stunt on a motorcycle along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway surfaced on social media on Monday, prompting the local traffic police to issue a fine of Rs 55,000 for flouting traffic norms.

    The 19-second video, filmed on June 15, showed the girl sitting astride on the fuel tank of the motorcycle and hugging the man who was driving it. The video sparked outrage among people.

    Lakhan Singh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in Gautam Buddh Nagar, said that traffic police have issued a fine, stating that both riders were penalised for violating traffic regulations. He also urged the youth to follow road safety norms to prevent accidents and avoid legal consequences.

    “The video came to notice through social media in which a boy and his co-rider were seen flouting traffic norms. After that, a challan of Rs 55,000 has been issued to them for flouting traffic norms,” Mr Yadav said.

    He further appealed to the public to adhere to traffic rules and refrain from engaging in such risky behaviour, emphasising that penalties would continue to be enforced for traffic violations

    The India Meteorological Department, predicts light rain across Delhi-NCR, bringing relief, heavy showers expected across multiple Indian regions.

    Several parts of the national capital and adjoining NCR areas are set to witness light rainfall and cloudy skies on Tuesday, bringing much-needed relief from the intense summer heat.

    According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), “Light rainfall is very likely to occur at Delhi (Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Badili, Pitampura, Mundaka, Pashchim Vihar, Rajauri Garden, Jafarpur, Nazafgarh, Dwarka, Palam, IGI Airport), NCR (Bahadurgarh, Gurugram), Safidon, Jind, Panipat.”

    Rain is also expected in nearby areas such as Bahadurgarh and Gurugram in the National Capital Region, as well as Safidon, Jind, and Panipat in Haryana.

    Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon had advanced further into most parts of Bihar and some more regions of eastern Uttar Pradesh as of June 19, according to the India Meteorological Department.

    Murshidabad district has two separate “police districts”, namely Murshidabad and Jangipur, with one Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in superintendent rank being in-charge of the police district.

    The West Bengal government on Friday announced the replacement of the current police superintendents in both the police districts of minority–dominated Murshidabad district, which had been on the boil earlier this month following communal violence and riot-like situation as protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act there turned violent.

    Murshidabad district has two separate “police districts”, namely Murshidabad and Jangipur, with one Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in superintendent rank being in-charge of the police district.

    As per a notification issued by the state government on Friday evening, a copy of which is available with IANS, the erstwhile superintendent of Murshidabad Police, Surya Pratap Yadav, has been transferred to a comparatively less significant post of commanding officer of Narayani Battalion in Cooch Behar district.

    Yadav has been replaced by Kumar Sunny Raj, the erstwhile superintendent of Ranaghat Police district in Nadia district.

    These bodies have been handed over to their families, they said, adding that efforts were underway to ascertain the identities of the remaining two bodies.

    There were 88 guests in 42 rooms of the six-storey budget hotel, located in Mechhua in the congested Burrabazar area, when the fire broke out at 8.10 pm on Tuesday.

    Ringer’s Lactate is an intravenous fluid that doctors use to treat dehydration and restore fluid balance in the body.

  • Kolkata Metro Passengers To Be Fined For Crossing ‘Yellow Line’ On Platforms

    The measure was being taken to ensure the safety and security of passengers, it said.

    The Kolkata Metro on Monday said it will fine people who unnecessarily cross the ‘yellow’ safety line on platforms of the Dakshineswar-New Garia corridor from June 1.

    Those crossing the ‘yellow’ line will be fined Rs 250, it said in a statement.

    The measure was being taken to ensure the safety and security of passengers, it said.

    “It has been found that a section of the commuters unnecessarily cross the yellow line when there is no train at the station in spite of repeated requests. In order to curb this tendency, Metro Railway authorities have now decided to launch a special drive against the erring commuters,” it said.

    While no legal action has been initiated yet, the matter has sparked a national conversation around the recognition and protection of traditional Indian designs in global markets.
